The Fool’s Huckleberry’s flowers are pinkish to yellowish-white with deciduous leaves found in clusters along branches. The berries are oval capsules that are 5-7 millimeters long.

Thimbleberry
Thimbleberry is considered a shrub that can be anywhere from 0.5 to 3m tall. It has erect stems that are free of prickles. Younger growth tends to be both glandular and hairy while the bark of older growth appears shredded. A spreading rhizome system allows thimbleberry to form large dense stands. The leaves are large, soft and maple leaf-shaped with a fine fuzz on both sides. They have between 3 and 7 lobes and toothed margins. Thimbleberry produces large white flowers with crinkled petals in long-stemmed terminal clusters of 3 to 11 flowers. The fruit produced are clusters of red drupelets that resemble raspberries. They are hairy and can taste bland or sweet depending on location and personal preference.

Wild Ginger
Wild ginger is an evergreen perennial with trailing stems that root freely. Due to this rooting behaviour and an extensive rhizome system, it often forms large mats. The leaves are heart to kidney-shaped, shiny and long-stalked. The leaf stalks and veins are covered with fine hairs. The flowers of wild ginger are bell-shaped with 3 “flaring” lobes and vary from purplish-brown to greenish-yellow. They are solitary (not in clusters) and often concealed by leaves. The fruit is a fleshy capsule containing several egg-shaped seeds with fleshy appendages.
